Baron with GW shot as Warriors Beat Celtics!

'Tay, Beans, AL, Air France, BDiddy?

Who's in your Five?

Well, after tonight's game, they're all in there. Now I don't have to tell you how difficult it is to beat the Celtics as they've only lost 11 games prior to tonight, but it was even more difficult for the Dubs tonight. Without one of their captains, Stephen Jackson, and being on the back end of a back to back, the Warriors had to take on an angry Boston Celtics team headed by it's 3 all-starts in Garnett, Pierce, and Allen. Coming off a disappointing loss to the Jazz it was crucial that the Warriors come out tonight and step their game up to face the best team in the league and that's exactly what they did.

Without Jackson in the game it left room for someone from the bench to step up, and that man was Mickael Pietrus. Despite the swirling trade rumors and recent flat performances, Air France played one of his hardest games of the year. He provided much needed defense on one of the premiere scorers in Paul Pierce(5-13 FG) and a spark of energy when the Warriors looked like they were gonna bow out of it. As I've told some of my fellow Warriors fans, as much as I'd like to see the Warriors add a big man, trading Pietrus might not be worth it. Sure he has by far the most mental errors as anyone on the team (even more than Barnes), but it's in these games where it looks like no one is gonna step up that he actually does. Given the opportunities at the right position, he makes more good plays than bad, honestly.

Air France with the D!

The Boston Three Party did not have it's best game but Ray Allen did have his usual stellar night against the Warriors. He made six 3-pointers and shot 64% from the field and ended with a total of 32 points. Their defense however, was quite stifling tonight and they sure seemed to have the right blue print to limit the Warriors offensively. The Warriors did score 119 points but believe me, that was the hardest earned 119 points ever. They doubled Monta almost every possession whether he was coming off a screen or jumping into the lane. Ellis had to become a distributor, something he's working on but not is forte. And that led to a big night from Andris Biedrins.

Andris had 21 points and 13 rebounds, easily his best statline in recent weeks. Ever since the team signed Chris Webber he's seen his productivity decrease but he came back to life in the most important game of the year. He also added one monstrous block of Rajon Rondo that sparked a fast break.

But even with all of these guys stepping up it was up to our favorite All-Star snub to come to the rescue with his last second heroics. With the game tied at 117 with 6.5 seconds left I couldn't help but wonder about Baron's missed free throw a few moments earlier. He's been doing that a lot lately, splitting crucial free throws, and I wondered if that would come back to haunt us in overtime because the team looked tired. Had the Warriors let a win slip right through their hands? But Baron got the ball dribbled to the right pulled up for a jump shot and right there I knew it was good....and swish! Redemption baby! The one non all-star sticking it to the three all-stars. How you like them apples?

"Who else?"

Warriors win 119-117!

The Man: Baron Davis: 29 points, GW shot with .03 left.
Warrior Killer: Ray Allen: 32 points, 6 assists, 6-8 3pt%

Recap, Warriors Beat Pacers!

Somehow, someway...

...the Golden State Warriors pulled off tonight's win. Even with a terrible shooting night from the team, the Dubs somehow managed to steal a victory over a game Indiana team that showed it's will to win on the second night of a back to back.

Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, Mike Dunleavy Jr., and Troy Murphy faced their former teams today. Dunleavy was booed every time he touched the ball. Was it warranted? Probably not, but Warriors fans will always remember him as a bust, even if he's doing better now. Murphy, Jackson, and Harrington were somewhat invisible in the game with only Harrington scoring double figures.

The game started out rocky with the Warriors shooting sub 40% from the field, sub 30% from the arc, and sub 70% from the line. A true recipe for a blowout. And for the most part it played out that way with the Pacers building a 17 point lead. But the Warriors never gave up and kept fighting. The tide turned when Jamaal Tinsley fouled Monta Ellis hard and was called for the flagarant. Ellis and Tinsley were face to face but Baron Davis came in a diffused the situation abruptly. Monta made his free throws and the comeback was on.

I'm the man!

Jermaine O'Neal tried all he could to win this game for his team with 27 points but in the end, it was not enough. Monta Ellis made key jumpers and an important tip-in late to put the Warriors ahead for good, finishing the game with a game-high 29 points. Baron Davis also provided some support with 27 of his own points while Azubuike contributed some minutes off the bench.

The Man of the game obviously is Monta Ellis. The One Man Fast Break, Mississippi Bullet, Babyfaced Assassin, whatever you call him it's all true! But tonight he's THE MAN!.

Dunleavy: "You're the real man, Monta."
Ellis: "Thanks, loser."

29 POINTS(60% fg), 8 REBOUNDS, 4 ASSISTS, 3 STEALS. That's a grown man's game!

Next up the Warriors head on the road for a 4 game trip. They face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday.

Go Warriors!

RECAP - Game #35: Warriors 130, Spurs 121, OT

The Spurs are Defending... what?!

Sweaty Palms! Frantic! Adrenaline Rushes! Stressingly Stressful!

I'm emotionally drained and I love it! The Dub's up and down unpredictable style makes us all stress out when watching any game. When the Dubs are suppsoed to win... they almost lose. When the Dubs are supposed to lose... they pull an upset! As Dub fans... we all might die early of a heart attack! But an exciting life well lived!

The Warriors started out shaky in the opening minutes, but soon found their groove to make it a game to remember!

Mr. MVP Boom Dizzle: The "MAN" came through for us tonight. Baron played very MVP-esque tonight. Lining up 3's... takin it to the hole.. dishin out assists... he was the "MAN." Baron really shined in the 4th tonight. He seemed almost unstoppable.. taking long 3's and schooling "Lock down" defender, Mr. Dirty Dirty Bruce Bowen on one pocession after another. Going on 11-of-18 shooting... finishing with 34pts, 14 assists, 6 rebs. If that ain't ALL-STAR status then I don't know what is!

MVP!!

The BEANs: Aka the Duncan Killer! Defending Duncan, Altering shots... Putting the ball on the floor and takin it to the hole on Duncan! Beans played a crucial role tonight guarding Duncan and occupying the center.

"Get outa here!"

Cap'n JACK: Looking at his statline, 8-of21 shooting... you'd think he didn't play so well but stats ain't shit for the Cap'n. Scoring 12 pts in OT with back to back clutch 3 pointers! "Thats Gangstarr Shit!"

The Mask Maruder! The Phantom! Pietrus! : I'd usually rip him a new one, but tonight Pietrius really came through for us and showed a few flashes of his contract extension at work. Pietrius was 50% from 3 point land at 3-of-6 and finishing with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

And Last but not least! My man....
AZuuuu Buike: Buike came off the bench with some much needed fire power. Going for 16pts on 7-of-7 shooting! In just 24 mins, Buike got 16pts, and 6 boards. And with that OT dunk from Baron, Buike has a awaken from his sleep!

Jammin it down!

Always a good night when shes in the building! You know she promised Mr. Boom Dizzle somethin...

Game #29 Preview: Warriors vs Timberwolves

Minnesota (4-22) 5th Northwest/15th West

@

Golden St. (16-12) 3rd Pacific/ 7th West

Time: 7:30pm PST
TV: FSN BA/NBATV
Radio: 680 AM
Line: Warriors -12.5

After another winning record on their road trip (3-2), the Golden State Warriors return home to play the Minnesota Timberwolves, one of the teams they beat on the last trip. The T-wolves held a lead in that game going into the second half but the Warriors overcame it with some tough defense and getting to the rim. Al Jefferson had a big game with his usual double-double but didn't receive enough help to get the win.

For the Warriors, the return home gives the fans an opportunity to see the team play during the holidays. A usual wednesday game at the Oracle against a less than stellar oppenent doesn't usually generate much interest, but tonight's game is nearly sold out and the crown should be electric. The Dubs need to use that energy and put this team away because the Timberwolves have shown the ability to score on the Warriors. Hopefully being back at home will energize Baron Davis's scoring so he can strengthen his All-Star chances.

The gameplan:

- Gift Returns: Warriors return home and give the same gift to the Wolves: a loss.
- Run and gun
- Stop big Al

DubTown Forecast:

- Monta Ellis goes off
- Jackson gets a technical
- Biedrins dunks on Jefferson..you heard it here first!

The Man: Monta Ellis, 22 points, 8 assists, 3 steals
PWK: Antoine Walker. Don't Laugh..he'll make some threes

Result: Warriors 114 Minnestoa 102

Game #27: Warriors 95, Nets 100 = ICE COLD

Warriors Lose 95-100

Something about the Warriors and below .500 teams. Warriors lose again to another struggling team in the East. It was an ugly start tonight, the score at the end of the 1st quarter was 17-27. The Warriors were ICE COLD tonight, shooting at a mere 39% from the field.

ICE COLD WARRIORS:

Baron Davis - 15pts on 6-of-19 shooting
Cap'n Jack - 21 pts on 5-of-18 shooting
Al Harrington - 11 pts on 3-of-12 shooting
Monta Ellis - 19 pts on 7-of-14 shooting

DubTown Forecast:

- The Warriors ran, but it sure as hell wasn't raining

- Harrington followed up a strong performance against the T-Wolves with an ugly show tonight

- Monta Ellis - Beside Biedrins, Monta was the only Warrior with a "decent" field goal precentage at 50%. He didn't get 26 pts, but he was close with 19pts, 6 rebs, 1 steal, and 3 assists.

- The Warriors Killer:
I'll have to split this award to Richard Jefferson and Vince Carter (Former Dub for all of 5mins)

Richard Jefferson - Jefferson continued his strong play with 31pts, 5 assists, and 3 rebs.
Vince Carter "Mr. Clutch" - With our Dubs staging a comeback in the 4th quarter, Carter launches a clutch 3-pointer with 24.6 seconds left which sealed the W for the Nets tonight.

Game #27: Nets @ Warriors, Preview

Golden State (15-11), 7th West/ 3rd Pacific

@

New Jersey (11-15), 9th East/ 3rd Atlantic

Time: 4:30 PST
TV: FSN BA
Radio: 680 AM
Line: -2

Tonight, our Dubs face another team under .500 team. I don't know why but the Dubs seem to not play as well against the bottom of the barrel teams and they seem to light it up when playing some of the elite teams in the NBA. I'm not sure if our beloved Dubs go into these sub-par games underestimating the other team or what but we need to consistently close out these teams with losing records.

Ner Jersey Nets, if you're looking at their roster then glance over to their record, you wouldn't understand why they have a losing record in the first place. They got Jason Kidd (arguably the best PG in the game), Vince Cater... and Richard Jefferson who is having a career season for New Jersey this year. The Nets have become known as the star-power team trapped within a mediocre franchise.

The Dubs are 2-1 on this road trip having suffer a lost to Detroit earlier in the week. The Dubs can win this easily with their run and gun ways and I'm pretty confident that the Nets cannot keep up with the Dub's intensity and Hustle. But, the Nets jut came off a passionate Overtime win in Miami on Thursday night. They will look to bounce back and hopefully get some more W's.

Interesting Fact: The Warriors have only won 2 of their last 9 games against the Nets

Game Plan:

- Run
- Run
- Rain 3's and run up the score

DubTown Forecast:

- Harrington has a great game (after his few week slump.. he's starting to bounce back) 26pts, 7 redounds
- OMFB aka Monta Ellis gets 2 dunks and racks up the fastbreak pts (10) on this slow New Jersey team

The Man = Monta Ellis is maturing rapidly, and I'm sure he's going to dominate the Net's slower guards tonight. I give it to Ellis slashing and driving his way to Victory!
Stateline: 26pts, 7 assists, 2 steals, 5 rebounds
Potential Warrior Killer = Richard Jefferson. Hopefully Cap'n Jack can contain the break out Jefferson or else he's going for another 25+ pts game.
Stateline: 32pts, 6 rebs, 3 assists

Result: Warriors: 121 Nets: 107

DubTown Daily: Bowl Season Underway!

It's wintertime and the holidays festivities are in full swing and you know what that means, it's college bowl season! The bevy of bowlgames started last night when the Utah Utes beat Navy in the Poinsettia Bowl. In a season of upsets and parity it was hard for even the experst to find a consensus number one team, nonetheless the average fan. And let's not talk about the BCS System. Ther are opponents and proponents to the system but I think this year clearly shows how much college football NEEDS a playoff. But in the end, the system put on the table a decent champonship game pitting LSU against Ohio St. However, there are other intriguing bowl games and I'll preview some of them and give my take on who will win.

Champs Sports Bowl

December 28th
in Orland, Florida

Michigan St. vs Boston College

This matchup will showcase an excellent quarterback in Matt Ryan of BC and a great pass-rusher in Jonal Saint Dic of Michigan St. Boston College was once ranked in the top 2, ready to be in the Championship game, but they lost 2 since then and fell all the way down to the Champs Sports Bowl, a privilege but no Championship game. The Spartans from Michigan St. like to run the ball with their feature back JaVon Ringer and premiere WR in Devin Thomas. Combine that potent offense with a defense that like to get after the quarterback and you have a recipe for success. If BC can't protect Ryan, then they're in for a tough game. My Pick: Michigan St. by 4.

Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl

December 31st
in Fort Worth, Texas

California vs Air Force

Another team that was ranked number 2 and championship bound is the California Bears. However they lost a tough game to Oregon St. and then went on a late season slide and ended with a 6-6 record. The Air Force team is coming off a 3 game winning streak to end the season and they'll be ready to face Cal and all their offensive stars. DeSean Jackson, WR, will be playing on Sundays next year and he is one of the fastest players in all of college football. But he's not the only one, LaVell Hawkins and Jahvid Best can all burn on the field along with running back Justin Forsett. Air Force is led by Chad Hall who is small in stature but big on the stat sheet. It will be a fun shootout I believe. My pick: Air Force by 1

Sugar Bowl

January 1st
in New Orleans, La

#10 Hawaii vs. #4 Georgia

A rare matchup of the WAC vs SEC. A matchup of two teams who feel snubbed for the Championship game. Hawaii is the only undefeated team left and Georgia was ranked 4th when both WVU and Missouri lost, lining up Georgia to be number 2, but conference rival LSU got the nod over the Bulldogs. The Warriors from Hawaii boast one of the highest scoring teams that strikes so quickly headed by quarterback Colt Brennan and his stable of receivers. Georgia is still somewhat upset not to be in the big game but they'll settly with the Sugar Bowl and they better be ready. Hawaii is no joke. A pure matchup of offense vs defense. I am a sucker for pass-happy offenses. My pick: Hawaii by 10

Rose Bowl

January 1st
in Pasadena, Ca

#7 USC vs #13 Illinois

The classic Pac-10 vs. Big 10 tilt. Another matchup of the offense of Illinois and the defense of USC. USC is probably playing the best out of all the teams, but Illinois beat the "best" team in Ohio State earlier in the season so both teams are ready for a triumphant win. USC will be playing a virtual home game against Illinois which will bring its spread offense against Keith Rivers(LB) and the Trojan D. John David Booty, Chauncey Washington, Joe McKnight, Patrick Turner, all these players have the talent to go to the NFL. But Illinois has Rashard Mendenhall and Arrelious Benn, both who are probably more athletic than any offensive player on USC. It will be a joy to watch to see if Illinois' speed on offense can beat USC's speed on defense. I think USC will be too much though. My pick: USC by 3

These are just some of the fun matchups college football fans will get to see this year. I really hope that NCAA gets their act together and tries to get a playoff in place so that the best teams can face each other and everyone can agree who the best team is each season.

Enjoy Bowling!
